SAULT STE. MARIE – The St. Ignace Saints got two wins each from Haillee Brown and Rachel Hetherington on their way to winning a Straits Area Conference track met on Tuesday.
The Saints totaled 122 1/2 points, while the Sault was second with 97. Rudyard placed third with 59, while Cheboygan and Rudyard were fourth and fifth with 56 and 14 1/2 points, respectively.
Brown won both the 100 hurdles (18.16), and the 300 hurdles (52.94), while Hetherington finished first in the 100 (13.82), and the 200 (27.74). St. Ignace also got wins from Autumn Orm in the long jump (13-7 3/4), and Sarah Cullip in the 3200 (12:17.00).
For the Sault, Bree Swann won the 400 (1:04.13), while Savannah Pinkoski shared the pole vault win with Victoria Cusick of Rudyard (7-6). The Devils also got relay wins in the 3200 from the team of Cheyenne Lajoice, Missy Zenker, Rachel Cook and Pinkoski (11:09), the 1600 as Zenker, Cook, Swan and Shontora Anderson combined for the win (4:28.67). The Sault also picked up a win in the 800 relay from the quad of Heather Johnston, Kaitlyn Thomas, Cassie Metrish and Swan (1:56.82) and completed the relay sweep as Johnston, Thomas, Metrish and Anderson ran for the win in the 400 relay (55.98).
Leah Jarvie was a two-event winner for the Bulldogs, who won five events overall at the meet. Jarvie won both the 800 (2:36.80), and the 1600 (5:47.20). Hunter Perry won the discus (123-1), while Savannah Dugan won the shot put (36-7). Cusick tied for a win in the pole vault (7-6).
