David Louis Mills, age 54, of Drummond Island, Michigan, died March 20, 2020, at home. He was born July 25, 1965, in L’anse, Michigan, to Louis Gerald Mills and Violet Rose (Lee) Mills.
David grew up on Drummond Island where he attended Drummond Elementary School and then DeTour Junior and Senior High School. He worked construction his entire adult life.
David loved the rodeo where he rode bulls for several years. He enjoyed playing his guitar, hunting, fishing and making his own fishing lures. He liked to hike and a few years ago, hiked the entire shoreline of Drummond Island with his friend “Tosha”. David also raced vintage snowmobiles. His nieces and nephews were very dear to him and he spent a lot of time with them. David was a very giving soul who set a good example of giving to others.
David is survived by his parents, Louis and Violet Mills; sisters, Sandie Figiel of Drummond Island, Becky Mills of Colon, Michigan, Lisa Mills of Goodrich, Michigan, and Amy Mills of Gaylord, Michigan; nieces, Jamie, Jessica, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Cheyenne, Ashley, and Alexis; and nephews, Dan, Ben, Jeremy, Brandon, and Lucas; and several great nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elsworth and Lena Lee and John and Mamie Mills.
Private family services have been held and a public gathering will be announced for Drummond Island this summer.
A memorial fund is set up at DeTour/Drummond Island Community Credit Union.
