CHIPPEWA COUNTY — On the evening of February 29, Michigan State Troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post were dispatched to a tavern in Chippewa County, Chippewa Township, after the owner of the establishment reported that a patron was refusing to leave.
An on-scene investigation showed that the patron was refusing to leave because he wanted to speak with the police to report having been assaulted. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Rex Hyrns, a 62-year-old Eckerman man, for felonious assault.
A 27-year-old male victim sought his own treatment for a small laceration.
