GONGWER NEWS – State employees were notified today that some of them will be temporarily laid off for 10 days, split over two pay periods, because of the falloff in revenues resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Formal notification to the employees getting temporarily laid off will come later this afternoon, the notice to state employees, which was obtained by Gongwer News Service, says. Employees will retain their health insurance and other benefits, and the state will automatically sign them up to receive unemployment benefits
It is not yet clear how many state employees will be temporarily laid off. Messages left with the State Budget Office and the governor’s office were not immediately returned.
