(Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Sault Ste. Marie, MI) – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 34th Annual Bridge Walk and Bicycle Parade at the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge will not be held in its traditional format this year.
Based on science and forecasts from medical officials, it is likely the pandemic will be a health and safety concern, particularly for events that attract large crowds, for the foreseeable future.
The physical walk, scheduled for Saturday, June 27, has been canceled. The International Bridge Administration (IBA) and the Chambers of Commerce in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan and Ontario are discussing a potential alternative virtual event in its place.
Further announcements will be coming soon.
The cancelation is in accordance with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ recommendations designed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the Government of Canada’s guidelines for preventing coronavirus.
