The Mackinac Bridge Authority held a special meeting today, May 13, to determine the status of the 2020 Mackinac Bridge Walk. The result? It’s cancelled!
The board felt it was highly unlikely that circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to prevent crowds of this size from forming by Labor Day.
In addition, revenue is down considerable due to Stay At Home orders and it would be irresponsible to spend $335,000 on the Bridge Walk and an additional $154,000 for Michigan State Police resources.
The vote by the board was unanimous.
