ST. IGNACE — A man was shot in Chippewa County early Saturday, according to the Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post.
Police said that about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, troopers were dispatched to a Trout Lake Township residence following a 911 call requesting assistance for a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival at the residence, a male subject was observed with a gunshot would and transported to Straits Hospital in St. Ignace.
No further information is being released at this time as the incident remains under investigation.
Police said this was an isolated incident and there are no related threats to the community.
Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post, Michigan State Police Crime Lab and Straits Area EMS.
