On 6-23-2020 Melanie Andrea Minta (34 yr old Sault resident) was arraigned in 91st Dist Court on a two count Felony complaint.
1- Accessory after the fact
2- Using a Computer to commit a crime.
Minta’s charges stem from a Trident investigation where Derek Erickson was previously charged in December 2019 for Delivery Causing Death.
Trident Detectives discovered that Minta had illegitimately accessed Protected Health information for the deceased victim from multiple sources after the overdose occurred. Minta was also closely corresponding with Mr. Erickson in relation to the fatal overdose.
Trident would like to thank the Sault Tribe Health Center and War Memorial Hospital for their cooperation in this investigation.
Minta was arraigned and released on bond
