Thelma Elizabeth Gallagher Campagnola, age 58, of Mackinac Island, Michigan, died on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Mid-Michigan Clare Hospital in Clare, Michigan. She was born on Mackinac Island on January 7, 1962 to Joseph Dale and Patricia (Green) Gallagher.
Thelma graduated from high school on the island, and later drove carriage for Arrowhead Carriage Company on the island. In 2005, she moved to live with her daughter Heather in Weidman, Michigan.
Thelma was a proud member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Thelma is survived by her husband, John Campagnola; son, Justin (Chelsea) Gallagher of Hudson, Michigan; daughter, Heather (Matthew) Yats, of Weidman; grandchildren, Abigail Yats, Mason Yats, Brody Yats, Marshall Yats, Mattison Yats, and Alexander Gallagher; father, Joseph Dale Gallagher of Mackinac Island; brother, Joseph (Pamela) Dale Jr of Mackinac Island; 4 sisters, Roberta Louzon of St. Ignace, Michigan, Sandra (Jim) Roe of Mackinac Island, Margaret (Bo) Herrala of St. Ignace, and Brenda (Jim) Pettit of Mackinac Island.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 25, at Dodson Funeral Cremation Burial Services, 240 McCann St., St. Ignace, from 2 to 3 pm. Burial will be on Mackinac Island on Sunday, July 26, at 2:30 pm at Ste. Anne’s Cemetery with Father Peter officiating.
