Dale Moen

Dale Alan Moen, age 85, of Rudyard, MI, died on August 28, 2020 in Sault Ste Marie, MI. He was born on May 23, 1935 in Decorah, Iowa, to Melvin Thodore and Hazel Rosseta (Nessit) Moen.

Dale grew up in Decorah and graduated from Decorah High School. After graduation Dale joined the United States Marines with 15 of his buddies. Over a 20 year career in the Marines, Dale served in California, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington D.C., Vietnam, and Okinawa, Japan. After leaving the Marines, Dale worked as a Prison Guard for the State of Michigan for ten years.

Dale met the love of his life, Gloria, while in the service, she was in the Navy. They married on September 21st, 1959 and together raised 3 children.

Dale enjoyed golfing and fishing and was a member of the VFW.

Dale is survived by his children Alan (Ellen) Moen of Madison, WI, Pamela (Mike) Babcock of Rudyard, MI, and Jacque Amarose of Mt. Pleasant, MI; grandchildren Alexander Moen, Benjamin Moen, Chelsea Dunn, Taylor (Zach) LeBlanc, Michael Amarose, Henry Amarose, and Tara (Ben) Watkins; great grandchildren Lincoln and Everett Watkins; and his sister Marilyn Kirkove.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gloria.
