“Great food, great beer and great fun with a virtual cook along to benefit Hospice”
Cathy Howell – The Wicked Sister
Sault Ste. Marie, MI: The Wicked Sister is excited to host its 6th Annual Battle of the Breweries for Hospice of the EUP on Monday November 9, 2020. Just like in years’ past, the event will feature a four-coursed dinner paired with exceptional beers from Big Lake Brewing Co. and Ore Dock Brewing Co. Due to COVID-19, this year’s Battle of the Breweries will be sold as “Some Assembly Required” meal kits designed to feed two people with the event being hosted via Zoom.
Pre orders for the $100 dinner kits go on sale Tuesday October 27-Tuesday November 3, 2020 and will able available for purchase from Hospice of the EUP or The Wicked Sister. Each dinner kit includes ingredients for four courses, eight beers (four from each brewery), link to the Zoom party, beer ballot and recipe cards for each dish. Participants will need a smart phone or laptop with internet, a pan, cooking spoon and measuring cup. The Wicked Sister will provide everything else.
To accompany the Charcuterie Plate (1st course), Fig & Gorgonzola Salad (2nd course), Sous Vide Pork Medallions with Risotto (3rd course) and Pumpkin Cake with Rum Caramel (4th course), challenger Big Lake Brewing Co. is sending Swing Juice IPA, Blood Orange Haze, Superior Eh-aze (UP exclusive), and Pumpkin Porter. Four-time returning champion, Ore Dock Brewing Company will be defending their title with Six Pointer Munich Dunkel, Flying Machine Hazy Pale Ale, Sigma Oasis Biere de Garde, and Low Hanging Fruit Blueberry Wheat Ale.
Despite moving the event from The Wicked Sister on 716 Ashmun St. to participants’ home kitchens, other aspects of Battle of the Breweries will stay the same. Tim & Lindsay Ellis of Eagle Radio 95.1 are volunteering their time to MC the night and take charge of the live auction. Items up for bid include Pampered Chef gift basket, Mayor for a Day experience, four course Beer (or Wine) Dinner at The Wicked Sister, and many other great things generously donated by the community. Most importantly, 100% of proceeds will go directly to Hospice of the EUP.
