Gretchen Elaine Conard, age 79, of Drummond Island, Michigan, died November 10, 2020, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born November 17, 1941, to Sterling Strand Bartloe and Charline Evelyn (Cheek) Bartloe.
Gretchen graduated from Livonia High School in 1959. After high school, she married James Paul and they had two children. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for Joann Fabric. James died from ALD. She later married Robert Conard on June 11, 2006, and they retired to Drummond Island.
Gretchen attended the Episcopal Church in DeTour Village.
Gretchen enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, and gardening. She also volunteered organizing the distribution of food through food banks.
Gretchen is survived by her husband, Robert Conard; sons, Timothy Paul of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kevin Paul of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and grandson Aaron Paul.
Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, James Paul.
A Memorial Service was held on November 21, 2020, at the Lighthouse Church on Drummond Island with Pastor Scott Dansforth conducting the service.
