Walter Henry “Walt” Shields, Sr., age 60, of Brimley, Michigan passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, December 26, 2020, as a result of a car accident.
Walt was born on December 12, 1960, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late Adam and Dorothy (Trombley) Shields. Walter attended Brimley High School and later drove a school bus for over 30 years for Brimley Area Schools. He enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, long car rides, family card games and hanging with his children and grandchildren. He loved talking on the phone and hanging up multiple bird feeders to share with his grandkids during visits.
Walt is survived by his children: Adam Shields, Elizabeth Shields, Patricia Shields, Violet Shields, and Walter Shields Jr. all of Brimley, MI; and five grandchildren: Theresa, Elaina, Carter, Hudson, and Bryson. Walt is also survived by his sister: Patricia (Chuck) Burby of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; along with many nieces and nephews.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter: Crystal Ann.
A private family funeral service will be held at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Witte officiating. A public burial will happen later this spring with a Celebration of Life after.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to help with funeral expenses.
