The Rudyard Bulldogs boys’ basketball team, ranked #6 in the state in Division 4, had no trouble with their rival Pickford on Friday night, as they improved to 7-0 on the season, with a convincing 65-19 win at the Harris Kahl Gymnasium, in Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference play. Rudyard will be at Roscommon Saturday afternoon, while Pickford (1-5) will host Cedarville on Tuesday. You can hear that game on the EUP Game of the Week, on Country 105 with Scott Nason, starting with the pregame show around 7:00 p.m.
In other boys’ basketball from Friday night, the Sault High Blue Devils earned their second win of the year, as they knocked off Newberry on the road, 63-51, in Straits Area Conference action. Sault High (2-5) will be at St. Ignace on Monday night. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO, with Dave Watson and Ray Bell, as part of a varsity double header, starting with the pregame show at 5:30 p.m. for the girls’ game. Newberry (2-6) is home to Rudyard on Monday. Cedarville improved to 3-1 in the EUP Conference, as they traveled to Engadine and topped the Eagles, 51-47. Cedarville (4-2) is at Pickford on Tuesday, while Engadine (2-3) will travel to Rudyard on Tuesday. Brimley evened their record at 3-3, as they defeated DeTour, 58-52 in EUP Conference play. Brimley will be home to Newberry on Tuesday. DeTour (2-4) hosts Onaway on Friday.
The Cedarville Trojans knocked off the Engadine Eagles in the only area girls’ game on Friday night, 53-21. Cedarville (4-1) is at Pickford on Monday, while Engadine (3-4) is at Munising on Monday.
