After knocking off the Sault High Blue Devils on the road to open their season on Monday, the Rudyard Bulldogs varsity boys basketball team traveled to Cedarville on Wednesday, and knocked off the Trojans 55-30, to improve to 2-0, and win their first Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference game. The Bulldogs will have their home opener on Friday when they will take on the Newberry Indians.
In other boys games on Wednesday, Cheboygan improved to 2-0 in Straits Area Conference play, as they defeated Sault High, 41-25. The Blue Devils, 0-2 to start the season, will be at home on Friday to take on St. Ignace at 5:45 p.m. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Dave Watson and Ray Bell, starting with the pregame show at 5:30. Newberry had no trouble with Pickford on Wednesday, as they earned their first win in EUPC play, topping the Panthers 62-35. Newberry (1-1) is at Rudyard on Friday while Pickford (0-1) will host DeTour.
The Sault High girls varsity basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season, and in SAC play, as they defeated Cheboygan on Wednesday night, 56-37. The Blue Devils will host St. Ignace (0-1) on Friday at 7:15 p.m. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Dave Watson and Ray Bell.
Thursday night girls basketball games include Brimley at Cedarville (0-1), Pickford (1-1) at DeTour, Mid Peninsula at Engadine, and Rudyard (1-1) at Newberry (0-1).
The Sault High Blue Devil hockey team won their home opener on Wednesday night at Big Bear Arena, as they skated to a 2-1 victory over the Cheboygan Chiefs. The Blue Devils will be at Gaylord on Saturday night.
