The Sault High girls’ varsity basketball team improved to 5-0 on Thursday night, as they earned a 67-52 home win over Rudyard, in Straits Area Conference action. Sault High will be home to Newberry on Monday night. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Dave Watson and Ray Bell, starting with the pregame show around 7:00 p.m. Rudyard (2-3) is at St. Ignace on Monday.
In other girls’ basketball from Thursday night, Pickford remains perfect on the season, as they knocked off Brimley, 73-25 in Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference play from the Purple Palace. Pickford (3-0) is at Gaylord St. Mary on Saturday afternoon, while Brimley (0-2) looks for their first win on Tuesday, at Newberry. In another EUPC game from Thursday, Engadine won on the road at DeTour, 41-21. Engadine (2-2) will host Mid Peninsula on Monday night. DeTour (0-3) is at Mackinaw City on Tuesday. Cedarville improved to 3-1 on the season, as they topped Hillman at home, 55-29. Cedarville will host Engadine next Friday. Cheboygan earned a low scoring 29-20 win at Newberry in SAC play. Newberry (1-5) is at the Sault on Monday.
Boys’ basketball on Friday night sees Sault High travel to Rudyard for a key SAC matchup. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Scott Nason, starting with the pregame show around 7:00 p.m. The Blue Devils will also host Alpena Saturday afternoon, that game will also be on 1230 WSOO starting with the pregame show around 2:45 p.m.
In other boys’ basketball games Friday night, Pickford is at Brimley, DeTour travels to St. Ignace, and Cheboygan is at Newberry.
