reach their cookie goals during a challenging Girl Scout Cookie Season. This year, girls are flexing their entrepreneurial and leadership skills even more as they come up with innovative Girl-led sales methods. From running virtual cookie booths on social media to setting up drive-thru locations to facilitating orders that ship direct to customers’ doors, girls as young as five years old are continuing to embrace their entrepreneurial spirits, stay connected to their communities, and have fun by participating in the cookie program. All proceeds from every purchase stay with local troops and Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes to power Girl Scouts’ essential leadership programming.
“My favorite part of this year’s Girl Scout Cookie Program has been seeing all of the creative marketing videos Girl Scouts are sharing to reach their customers virtually. Girls are becoming more and more tech savvy and learning a whole new skillset this cookie season,” says Missy Brozek, Communications Director for Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes.
Cookie Booths will be Popping up in New and Inventive Ways
Cookie booths, whether virtual, drive-thru, or in-person, will take place March 5th – April 4th. The traditional cookie booth at community businesses will be limited this year as Girl Scouts adapt cookie sales to pandemic restrictions. Many girls have moved to virtual cookie booths through social media and some will be trying out drive-thru cookie booths at local parks and businesses. Visit GirlScoutCookies.org to find a booth near you.
Girl Scouts Team Up with Grubhub this Cookie Season
Thanks to a national collaboration with food ordering and delivery platform Grubhub, girls now have an additional way to facilitate contact-free cookie orders. Starting this weekend, March 6, 2021, consumers in select areas throughout Northern Wisconsin can order Girl Scout Cookies for pickup or delivery on Grubhub.com or the Grubhub app. March 6th – 28th, Grubhub is offering consumers an extra perk with a FREE box of cookies with every cookie order (limited to one free box per order, per day – may be subject to a minimum order). To get a hands-on experience in managing e-commerce, local Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory, and more, all using Gubhub’s back-end technology. As always, the proceeds benefit the troop and council while providing another innovative way to safely run the cookie program virtually. Girl Scouts is grateful to Grubhub for waiving all fees for the organization to make this new delivery option feasible without reducing troops’ and councils’ proceeds.
Online Ordering Now Available Nationwide
For consumers who don’t already know a Girl Scout or are not within a Grubhub delivery area, nationwide cookie delivery is also available. By visiting GirlScoutCookies.org, customers can enter their zip code into the Girl Scout Cookie Finder to find a local troop to purchase from for direct shipment or donation to local organizations. This additional contact-free method supports local girls while keeping their safety and skill-building top of mind. Though social distancing measures may keep families and friends apart, cookie customers can share joy and stay connected this season through a gift-box option that ships directly to others via the Digital Cookie platform.
Hello Toast-Yay!™ and Goodbye Girl Scout S’mores Cookie
This year, Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes will debut the new Toast-Yay!™ cookie, a French toast-inspired cookie dipped in delicious icing and full of flavor in every bite. Each delightful, toast-shaped cookie is full of French toast flavor and flair and stamped with the trusted Girl Scouts’ signature trefoil on top. Toast-Yay! gives consumers a new way to celebrate moments of joy alongside other favorites, like Thin Mints® and Caramel deLites®.
And make room in your freezer, because this will be the last year to get your hands on the delicious Girl Scout S’mores cookie. The crispy graham cracker cookie, double-dipped in crème icing and coated in delicious fudge will be discontinued at the end of the 2021 cookie season.
