After a comeback victory over the Sault High Blue Devils on Wednesday night in boys’ basketball, the St. Ignace Saints won their third game in a row on Thursday night, improving to 5-2 overall, as they defeated Brimley, 66-59 at the Iggy Zone. The Saints will be home to East Jordan on Saturday afternoon. Brimley (3-5) is at Rudyard on Tuesday. You can hear that game as part of the EUP Game of the Week on Country 105 with Scott Nason and Ray Bell.
In other boys’ basketball from Thursday night, Sault High fell at Marquette, 78-38. Sault High (2-7) is home to Escanaba on Friday night. Newberry improved to 4-1 in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference, as they defeated Engadine, 56-21. Newberry (4-6) is at Munising on Wednesday, while Engadine (2-5) is home to Pickford on Friday. Cedarville dropped a 69-63 decision to Alanson. Cedarville (5-3) will be at the Sault on Wednesday. You can hear that game on 1230 WSOO with Dave Watson and Ray Bell.
Friday night boys’ basketball sees a Straits Area Conference showdown in Rudyard as the Bulldogs host Cheboygan, while Onaway travels to DeTour.
Four girls’ basketball games are on the slate Friday, including undefeated Sault High traveling to Alpena, Pickford at Engadine, Newberry visiting Brimley, and Rudyard at Cheboygan.
The Sault High Blue Devil hockey team will be at Big Bear Arena this weekend for a pair of games. They will face Petoskey on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Alpena on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. You can hear both games on 1230 WSOO with Dave Watson on Friday and Scott Nason on Saturday.
