Darryl Timothy “Smitty” Smith, age 72, of Moran, Michigan, died April 24, 2021 in St. Ignace, Michigan. He was born on June 28, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio to Prince and Betty Smith.
Smitty grew up in Ohio and spent many years there before he made his way to St. Ignace in the 1960’s. He began working with Native Painting on Mackinac Island where he painted many homes and businesses. The people of Moran loved him dearly and called him the “Mayor of Moran”.
Smitty enjoyed having fun in life and would often spend his time doing puzzles. He was quite good at them too.
Smitty is survived by his sons, James (Michelle) Sheber of St. Ignace, Edward Sheber of Moran, and Eric Sheber of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Alicia, Micaela, and Alex; and brother, Doug Smith.
Smitty was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Smith; son, Jeffery Sheber; and her parents, Prince and Betty.
