Hazel Irene Nutkins, age 87, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at War Memorial Hospital.
Hazel was born on July 16, 1933, in Strongs, Michigan to the late Charles and Evaline (Toll) Alexander, Sr. She was a graduate of Sault High School with the class of 1951. Hazel married Orville Nutkins on May 1, 1954, at the Central Methodist Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was a member of Eastern Star and Donaldson Presbyterian Church and Hazel spent many years helping with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, and baking – she was internationally famous for her homemade bread and jam. Hazel loved bird watching, bowling, crafting, and being with her husband.
Hazel’s lifelong love for her family was everything. Hazel is survived by her children: Susan (James) McLeod, Joan (Michael) Ojala, and Amy Dalsky (Tom Goebel), all of the Sault Ste. Marie; as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 24, 2021, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. Friends may gather that same day from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Prior to the service, an Eastern Star memorial tribute will be held at 10:40 AM
