Upcoming Events in October at Bayliss Public Library

(Sault Ste. Marie, MI) – Preschool Storytimes are continuing through the month. For more information or to sign up, call or consult the circulation desk.

Every Tuesday at 2PM, the library screens films for their Movie Matinee program. Film selections can be viewed inside the library. Be advised that not all movie choices are family films, so please use your best judgment when deciding whether to bring children.

On Tuesday, October 5th at 7PM, Bayliss Public Library will host an author visit with Tom Carr. Tom is a true crime writer specializing in Michigan crime and lore. He will be speaking about his latest release, “Dark Side of the Mitten.”

The highly anticipated Friends of Bayliss Public Library book sale is taking place during the second weekend of October. The sale will go on between 9AM and 4PM on Friday, October 8th, and between 9AM and 1PM on Saturday, October 9th.

Adults with disabilities or sensitivities are invited to come to the Adult Sensory Storytime at the library. This program combines storytelling and sensory stimulation. The group meets every third Thursday of the month at 1PM. Masks are required in order to attend this event.

This year’s NEA Big Read for the library is “An American Sunrise” by United States Poet Laureate Joy Harjo. The library has copies available at the front desk for interested patrons. Everyone is also welcome to join the NEA Big Read Book Discussion taking place on October 26th at 7PM, led by the library’s adult programming coordinator, Natalie Nowak.

Esteemed local author Ellen Airgood will be visiting Bayliss Public Library on October 28th at 6:30PM. She will lead a writing workshop centered around “first words.” Ellen will also discuss her newest book titled, “Tin Camp Road.” Teens and adults are encouraged to attend.
