Beverly Jean “Jeanie” Simmons, age 76, of Hessel, Michigan, died unexpectedly on November 2, 2021, at her home. She was born on May 29, 1945, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Orville Joseph and Loretta (Grove) Simmons.
Jeanie grew up in St. Ignace, Michigan, and graduated from Cedarville High School in 1965. She they attended a business college and earned her associates degree. She began working in Marquette, Michigan, for Wool Worths. She lived in Marquette for several years, before moving to Hessel. She worked serval different jobs before starting at the Big Boy Restaurant in St, Ignace. She worked there for over ten years when health forced her to quit working. Though Bev lost her sight it did not stop her, she still was the caregiver for her brother Don for many years.
Jeanie enjoyed watching the birds and she greatly missed watching them after she lost her sight. She loved her family dearly but always was worried about then and how they were all doing.
Jeanie is survived by her brother, Donald Simmons of Hessel; sister, Linda (Jimmy) Wachter of Delaware; nieces & nephews, Lori (Chris) Schell, Orval “Joe” Simmons, Donald Simmons, Brian (Whitney Matson) Peterson, Ashley Moody, Dakota Moody, Savanna Peterson, Kenley Anderson, Ryker Fenner, Hunter Moody, Hayden Moody, Addison Moody, Macklyn Fenner, BryleyAnn Fenner, Jordyn Simmons, and Elliott Simmons.
Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Tina Simmons-Ferris.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Galer Funeral Homes & Cremation in Pickford, Michigan. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM.
Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
