Clara Josephine Jarvie, age 82, of Rudyard, Michigan, died on November 1, 2021, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was born on May 27, 1939, in Ann Arbor, to Elbert Arthur and Ida Ellen (Knight) Payne.
Clara grew up in Ann Arbor and graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer in 1957. She began working for Michigan Bell Telephone and met Henry Michael Jarvie in July 1958. They married on November 1, 1958, in Ann Arbor at Westside Methodist Church. They made their home in Ypsilanti, Michigan and raised their three children. After Henry retired in 1992, they moved to Rudyard.
Clara was a member of the Rudyard Presbyterian Church in Rudyard and the Westside Methodist Church in Ann Arbor.
Clara enjoyed reading, baking, and cooking. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and watching movies.
Clara is survived by her husband, Henry Jarvie; son, Henry (Conna) Jarvie 3rd of Ypsilanti; daughter, Jennifer (Ric) Howton of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; son Jeffrey Jarvie of Whitmore Lake; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Whiting of An Arbor; and brother Nelson (Elaine) Guenther of Florida; Sister in laws Polly Ross, Prudy Allen (Jim) of Rudyard, Michigan, Pat Jarvie of Ludington Michigan; brother inlaw Robert Jarvie.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; brother Warren (Jennie) Guenther, and Robert (Mary) Payne; brother-in-laws, Ron Whiting, Otis Jarvie, Eugene Ross.
A Private Family Graveside will be held.
Entombment will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.
