Margaret “Peggy” Wasnich

Margaret Wasnich “Peggy”, age 75, of Drummond Island, Michigan, passed away on October 24, 2921. She was born January 12, 1946, in Wayne County, Michigan, daughter of Elma Louise Hamilton and Thomas Hamilton. She has been a lifelong resident of Drummond Island since 1977.

Peggy cared for her family and loved Drummond Island. She loved cooking meals for her family along with many dishes and desserts for numerous community gatherings, especially the children’s functions over the years.

Peggy was also a member of the Drummond Island Homemakers, Moose Lodge, and Lions Club for many years. Peggy enjoyed gardening and canning, jeeping and singing with the girls or that occasional road trip to the casino. She lived life to the fullest. She will live on in the hearts of her family and those who knew her. She will truly be missed but not forgotten.

Peggy is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Margo Hamel) Makovich and Timothy (Jolene Miller) Makovich; five grandchildren, Stephanie Matkovich, Cory Matkovich, Kurt Matkovich, Kyle Matkovich, and Amber Matkovich; two great-grandchildren, Louis Socia and Ava Burton; life partner, Robert Bennet off Drummond Island; sisters, Karen (Jim) Sexton, Barbara (Bill) Sexton and Gloria Jean Hamilton; borthers, Ronnie (Elizabeth) Hamilton and Bobby Jo Hamilton.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wasnich.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
