Darlene Francis Long, age 77, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away at Ball Hospice House on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Darlene was born on May 6, 1944, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late Wallace and Myrtle (O’Brien) Kiernan. She graduated from Sault High School with the class of 1963. On November 23, 1963, Darlene married Eugene Wayne Long at the McCarron Free Methodist Parsonage. She enjoyed the challenges of being a school bus driver, driving for Port Austin and Bad Axe Schools. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, making gifts to give away and picking up dogs that needed a home.
Darlene is survived by her husband: Eugene Long; three children: Lisa (Bill) Stockwell of Marine City, MI, Brian Long of Roseville, MI, and Stephen (Kate) Long of St. Clair Shores, MI; and one grandchild: Brandon Stockwell. Darlene was also survived by five sisters: Beatrice Frikken of VanCouver, WA, Alverna Godfrey of Southgate, MI, Roselyn Camby of Romulus, MI, Virginia (Joel) Champagne of Sugar Island, MI, Faye Godfrey of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and sister-in-law Susan Kiernan of Silver Bay, MN. She also has many nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: William, Clayton, and Clinton Kiernan; and three sisters: Hazel Buhro, Gloria Roo and Beulah Kiernan.
