Benny Edward “Pow Wow” Captain, Jr., age 60, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away on January 1, 2022, at War Memorial Hospital.
Benny was born on February 18, 1961, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI the sone of the late Benny and Delores (Cornwell) Captain, Sr. Benny worked for many years at AMI Industries. He was a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Benny enjoyed going to the casino and playing cribbage.
Benny is survived by two sons: Chad Captain and Brent Captain both of Jackson, MI; a daughter: Tanya (Ian) Church of Ionia, MI; and six grandchildren: Christian Captain, Kaily Captain, Trinity McKee, Isaiah Captain, Bailey Captain, and Alijah Captain. He is also survived by two brothers: Richie Captain of Muskegon, MI and Louie (Jodie) Captain of Kincheloe, MI; and three sisters: Liz Brown of Kincheloe, MI, Sherry Captain of Muskegon, MI, and Donna Goetz of Traverse City, MI.There will be no public services held at this time. A traditional fire was lit in his honor.
