CHIPPEWA COUNTY – CHIPPEWA COUNTY has been chosen to receive $15,260 for Phase 39 and $47,165 for ARPA-R to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U. S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America; The Salvation Army; and United Way Worldwide. With Phase 39 and ARPA-R the Local Board is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country. The Local Board will determine how these funds are to be distributed among emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies.
Eligible applicants must: 1) be a nonprofit; 2) be eligible to receive federal funds; 3) have an accounting system or an approved fiscal agent; 4) practice non-discrimination; 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and shelter services; 6) have a voluntary board; 7) have the capacity to either chargeback or expend Phase 39 and Phase ARPA-R funding during the jurisdiction’s selected spending period (November 1, 2021 through April 23, 2023); 8) must be able to completely and accurately obtain, retain and submit required documentation with reports and use DocuSign and online reporting.
Agencies meeting these qualifications are urged to apply. CHIPPEWA COUNTY has distributed Emergency Food and Shelter funds previously with CLM Community Action Agency, Diane Peppler Resource Center, Inc., Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, Sault Ste. Marie Housing Commission – Safe Haven, and The Salvation Army Sault Ste. Marie. These agencies were responsible for providing meals and nights of lodging.
