Kathleen Ann Gonyeau, 82, passed away February 20, 2022 at the Chippewa County Hospice House surrounded by her beloved family.
Kathleen was born June 12, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late William and Cora Daniel.
Kathleen graduated from Mercy School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. On September 10, 1960, she married David Gonyeau and eventually they settled in Sault Ste. Marie to raise their family.
Kathleen is survived by her husband David Gonyeau, her four children: Lori Phillips (Andy), of Brookfield, CO, Jeffrey Gonyeau (Dawn), of Traverse City, MI, Karen Seago of Davenport, IA, and Henry Gonyeau (Lisa), of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Kathleen was blessed with eighteen grandchildren: Lizzie (Nick), Sara (Dan), Cody (Emma), Emily, Marisa (Adam), Robyn (Thomas), Brandon, Thomas (Monica), Marrissa, Madison, Kameryn, Hanna, and four great children: Cooper, Annie, Adelynn, Adam, and number five arriving this spring.
Kathleen worked for many years as an RN at War Memorial Hospital in the OB Department. Kathleen was an extremely active member of St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral Church. Kathleen’s greatest love was her family, and she has left behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Visitation will take place on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10:00 am with the funeral following at 11:00 am. Visitation and the funeral will take place at St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral Church in Sault Ste. Marie, MI with Father Nicholas Thompson officiating. Final resting place is Riverside Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Kathleen’s name to St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral Church Alter Society or to the Chippewa County Hospice House. Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
