Michael J. Hoffman, age 72, passed away peacefully at home in Kinross, MI on February 18, 2022 after a short and courageous medical battle.
Born in Holland, MI on September 8, 1949 to parents Jay and Bette Hoffman, Michael had a rewarding career as an electronics technician. He loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and photograph wildlife near his family home nestled in the woods. Michael is a distinguished veteran of the Vietnam War. He served for two years with the Army and left the military with honorable discharge having achieved the rank Specialist Fourth Class. For his heroism and valor in battle, Michael earned several distinctions including both the Bronze Star with “V” device and the Purple Heart.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Vikki and Wanda.
He is survived by his beloved wife Carla of Kinross, MI; his dear children by previous marriages Ronda and Jay of Holland, MI, and Joshua (Allan) of Allegan, MI; step-daughter Suzanne (Ryan) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON; grandsons Isaiah, Brayden (Farrah), and Zachary; great-granddaughter Isabella; brother Danny (Roland) of Goodyear, AZ; sister Kelly of Holland, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all.
As per Michael’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A memorial service with military honors for family and close friends will be held at his home at 17815 S. Daisy’s Way, Kinross, MI on Saturday, June 25 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans at dav.org. Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
