Kenneth (Ken) Lionel ”Zeke” Horka, Sr., age 88 passed away at home surrounded by family in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on February 28th, 2022.
Ken was born on July 31, 1933, in Cedarville, MI to the late Lionel and Louise (Heyer) Horka. He was a graduate of Sault High School, served in the United States Marines during the Korean conflict and was a former member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge.
Ken was married to Ruthann Steikar for 54 years. They married on September 8, 1952, at St James Lutheran Church in Rudyard. Ken was an inspirational hockey coach, coaching the “South Side” House League and House League All Stars in the late 1970s.
Ken is survived by his son, Kenneth (Kathleen) Horka Jr. of Westborough, MA; two grandchildren: Matthew and Jillian Horka his siblings: David “Whitey” Horka of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Marcia Fabry of Arizona.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Ruthann Steikar, daughter: Sandra M. Horka. Ken is also preceded in death by his siblings: Jack Horka, Michael Horka, Stanley Horka and Lorraine Flynn.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial may be left to the United States Marine Corps Local Chapter.
