Marian Louise Osborn

Marian Louise (Edwards) Osborn passed away due to natural causes, March 8, 2022, at War Memorial Hospital Long Term Care comforted by her loving family.

Marian was born to Alfred and Mabel (Watson) Edwards on February 5, 1929, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

Marian was a graduate of Sault High School where she especially enjoyed studing History.  She was passionate about reading and spent endless hours helping her children with their homework and studies.  She taught them to work hard and to be honest and kind to others.

Skating at the Puller Stadium was one of her great loves in her youth.

While working at Hares Grocery Store in the Soo, Marian met the love of her life Roy W. Osborn Jr.  Roy and Marian were married June 21, 1947.  They raised six children, Diane Gravette of Traverse City, MI; Susan (Gary) Palmer of Pickford, MI; Patricia (Ron) Blalock; John (Norma) Osborn, Ronald (Helen) Osborn, and Donald (Gerri) Osborn all of Sault, MI.

Grandchildren are Ronald Blalock, Jr. of the Soo; Julie Challendar, Tadd (Patti) Gravette of Traverse City, MI; Robert (Katie) Blalock of the Soo; Paxton (Beckie) Palmer, Sr. of Lewisburg, TN; Gregory Osborn, of the Soo; Marnie (Roderick) Clancy of Hoover, AL; Jeremy Osborn, Josh (Andrea) Osborn, Naomi (Mike) Shunk, and Adam Osborn of the Soo; Katie Osborn of California, Dawn Osborn of Illinois, and Amber Palmer of Pickford, MI

Marian was blessed with 30 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Marian was a city girl but adapted to farm life by baking bread and goodies, sewing, knitting, crocheting, churning butter, and doing the constant chores required to raise a large family.  She especially enjoyed baking for her grandkids and great grandkids and crocheting hats and afghans for all of the family members.

Marian worked with her husband as the bookkeeper for their business, Osborn Excavating for years.

Marian’s brother James Edwards resides in Wilmington, NC.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Mabel Edwards; grandson David Blalock; sisters Eleanor (Edwards) Tockey; Florence (Edwards) Alexander both of Nebraska; Alice (Edwards) Soorus of the Soo; her husband of 57 years Roy W. Osborn Jr.; and her son-in-law Glenn Gravette of Traverse City, MI.

Marian was a very gracious lady, not wanting to bother other for help in her elder years.  Her family would like to thank all of the War Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Team for the loving care given to our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister during her declining years.

Marian has requested a family gathering at Pine Grove Cemetery.  Mulders Funeral Home is handling the details.  Marian will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery next to her husband in the Spring. Arrangements are in the care of C.S. Mulder Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
