Nellie Marjorie McCoy, nee Wigwaus, 94, having been redeemed through the suffering of Jesus Christ, is now home with her Lord and Savior.
She was born on December 10, 1927, to John and Margaret (Wahbunosa) Wigwaus of Garden River, Ontario, Canada.
From across the river, Sugar Islander David Harold McCoy became her husband. They raised their children in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Following the death of David, Nellie moved to Wetmore, Michigan to be close to family.
Nellie passed away February 28, 2022, at her home in Wetmore under the loving care of her family with assistance from Northwoods Home Care and Hospice.
She is survived by a son Philip J. McCoy of Wetmore, Michigan; two daughters Nelda K. (William Smith) McCoy-Smith of Wetmore, Michigan; and Margret B. Spann of Rapid City, Michigan; six grandchildren Birch Smith, Michael, Jennifer, Christopher, Isaac, and Naomi Spann; as well as great three granddaughters Sonseray (12), Lanikai (10), and Rowan (8) Spann. Also survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pearl (Alvin) Menard and many nieces and nephews.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Wigwaus, her husband David H. McCoy, son David K. McCoy (whose lifelong care had been entrusted to Nellie), son-in-law Lynn Spann, father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred and Bertha McCoy, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lillian (Ed) Perrault, Lorraine (Phillip) Menard, Melvia (Glen) Menard, Cora (Billy Lee) Smith, Isabel McCoy.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on March 12, 2022, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home, Friends may gather from 12:00 PM until the time of services.
