SUDBURY, Ont. – The Soo Eagles built up a three-goal lead then withstood a valiant third period comeback bid by the Greater Sudbury Cubs as they prevailed with a 3-2 triumph Friday in Game 6 of their Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff series at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.
With the result, the Eagles win the best-of-seven affair 4-2 and now advance to meet the top-ranked Soo Thunderbirds in the West Division Final.

The NOJHL has announced its game schedule for the West Division Final between the Soo Thunderbirds and Soo Eagles. This best-of-seven set will start Tuesday at 7 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre.
The Thunderbirds will also serve as the home side for Game 2, which goes Wednesday at 7 p.m., back at John Rhodes.
Heading to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., for Game 3, it will be played Friday, April 22 and features a 7:30 p.m. start at Pullar Stadium.
Pullar Stadium will also be the venue for Game 4 and goes Saturday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
The Thunderbirds will host Game 5 at John Rhodes, if necessary, on Monday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
If a Game 6 is required, it will be contested on Wednesday, April 27 with a 7 p.m. face-off at Pullar Stadium.
Should the series go the distance, Game 7 is slotted for Friday, April 29 at John Rhodes Community Centre, at 7 p.m.
The winner of this match-up will then meet either the Timmins Rock or Hearst Lumberjacks for the NOJHL championship.
From there, the league champion will move on to the Centennial Cup, May 19-29, in Estevan, Sask.
