Joanne “Jo” Elizabeth Arbic, age 88, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Hospice of the EUP – Hospice House.
Jo was born on September 24, 1933, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI the daughter of the late Albert and Christena (McMoran) Abbott, Jr. She graduated from Sault High with the class of 1951. On October 6, 1951, she married Donald J. Arbic in Sault Ste. Marie. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and ceramics. She was a sports fan. Especially anything her kids and grandkids were involved in, as well as Tiger Baseball. She was once an avid bowler. Jo was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.
Jo is survived by four sons: Donald (Corrie) Arbic of Brighton, MI, Richard (Cheryl) Arbic and Robert (Brenda) Arbic both of Sault Ste. Marie, and Edward (Carol) Arbic of Pickford, MI; nine grandchildren: Clare (Becky) Arbic, Ray (Merran) Arbic, Bryan (Kristi) Arbic, Brad (Kristen) Arbic, Michael Arbic, Eddie (Jenessa) Arbic, Ashley (Damon) Anderson, Megan (Nick) Dell, and Mat (Kaitlin) Arbic; and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister: Ann Abbott of Kinross, MI.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Donald Arbic; and a sister: Ellen Whitworth.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022, at the First United Presbyterian Church. Friends may gather at the church starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery later this year.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be left to Hospice of the EUP.
