Virginia May Carlson, age 90, of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, passed away on March 20, 2022, at McKinley Manor where she resided for the past two years. She was born on August 12, 1931, in Sault Ste Marie, to Leo and Bertha Coullard (Ouillette).
Virginia graduated with the class of 1951 from Loretto Catholic High School. She went on to marry the love of her life, Robert Lee Carlson, and together raised their five children; Robert (JoDee), Dianne (Dave), Richard, Karen (Dave), and Stephen (Nancy).
Virginia spent most of her life working with her talented hands as a seamstress, gardener, and chef. Her handmade quilts, hats, and mittens were loved by many. She enjoyed many winters as a snowbird—traveling to Orange Beach, Alabama and Zephyrhills, Florida, to be with friends and family.
Virginia is survived by her brother, Skip (Lucy); her children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; as well as many beloved family members.
Virginia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where her life will be celebrated by a mass of Christian burial on May 13, at 11:00 A.M. Internment will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie following the service.
