Sault Ste. Marie, MI — Effective Tuesday, May 24th at 7am Arlington Street will be closed to
install the crosswalk near the U.S. Postal Service and MyMichigan Health billing office.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie received a $4,408,500 Community Development Block Grant from the
Michigan Economic Development Corporation to be used along with $2,500,000 of City funds to
reconstruct several parking lots and incorporate placemaking into the downtown area. To date,
Arlington, Oaka, and North and South Court have been reconstructed. Placemaking amenities
will soon be installed by City DPW crews. The Arlington-Fire Hall parking lot is the last lot to be
reconstructed as part of this project.

• The Fire Hall Parking lot is the last large section of this project and then the contractor and
subcontractors will be working on the punch list to bring the project to a close.
• Project is in progress and will continue through June 2022 or approximately over the next 6 weeks
with the goal to be done prior to the 4th of July holiday.
