Cloverland announces new Chief Operating Officer

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. (May 19, 2022) – Cloverland Electric announces power supply expert Patrick Frazier has joined the cooperative as chief operating officer, effective May 16. Frazier’s role as chief operating officer (COO) will support President and CEO, Mike Heise, in executive leadership while applying decades of power supply expertise to ensure the cooperative remains strategically positioned for future industry challenges. The COO role fills a unique need at the cooperative, particularly following the retirement of chief financial officer, Lisa Castilho, effective May 24.

Frazier has worked with the cooperative as a power supply consultant following the departure of the cooperative’s previous chief financial officer and director of power marketing and regulatory affairs, Aaron Wallin, in September 2020.

“Power supply has been a primary financial focus of the cooperative for the past three years,” Cloverland’s President and CEO, Mike Heise states. “Pat Frazier’s decades of experience in power supply bring a valuable skillset to our leadership team and will equip us for a strong financial future.”

Frazier brings over 27 years of experience working for both for profit and not-for profit electric companies. Most recently, Frazier served as president and managing partner of Metis Energy LLC, a start-up energy and technology firm based in Louisville, Kentucky. Frazier’s experience spans a range of electric industry skills including engineering and executive management in wholesale and retail power. As part of his duties, Frazier will oversee engineering, operations, generation and key accounts at the cooperative.

“I am excited to be part of Cloverland’s team and look forward to opportunities to strengthen the cooperative’s position in the evolving electric industry,” Frazier states.

Cloverland also announces the promotion of accounting manager, Jillian King to director of finance. King’s dedicated 13 years of cooperative service, combined with accounting and management experience, will ensure continued strength for the cooperative’s finances. Upon Castilho’s retirement, her CFO responsibilities have been distributed among King and other directors at the cooperative. Allie Brawley will now oversee the member services and billing department as director of communications and member relations. Brawley’s business development responsibilities will shift to Frazier. Jake Brown has been promoted to business development and key accounts manager and will work directly with Frazier to enhance the cooperative’s position with broadband, electric vehicles and infrastructure projects.

Frazier has decades of experience working for profit and not-for-profit energy companies. His experience spans from engineering to executive management in electrical power, both wholesale and retail, encompassing generation, supply planning, trading, delivery and operations, transmission operations, regulatory affairs and ISO/RTO control center design and operations. Before Metis Energy, Frazier was vice president of Product Development, World Kinect Energy Services; president and CEO of Beach Front Energy; vice president of Electricity Services for Fellon-McCord & Associates; managing partner and co-founder of DaCott Power and Transmission Solutions; vice president of Power Generation and Energy Operations at American Municipal Power and manager of Utility Power Sales at LG&E Energy. Frazier received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering.
