Michael Douglas Carrick, Sr

Michael Carrick Sr., age 70, of Brimley, Michigan passed away May 15, 2022 at the University of Michigan Hospitals surrounded by family. Mike was born in Ypsilanti, MI to Ben and Vivian Carrick on March 27, 1952.

Mike spent his childhood in Brighton, MI and moved to Brimley as a teenager where he met and married his wife of 50 years Kathi (Lyons) Carrick. Mike spent his life in construction, spending most of his career working for Bay Mills Indian Community. He was an avid Tigers fan and always held out hope for his Lions. Mike enjoyed camping, hunting, making maple syrup and he loved fishing. During the warm months you could always find him on the Back Bay spending hours catching fish. When Mike wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, he was busy building, fixing, and tinkering in his garage. He was known as the guy that could fix anything. He enjoyed all of these things with his children and grandchildren. Mikes family was his whole world and his greatest name was PaPa.

Mike is survived by his wife Kathi, his children Brenda (Dan) Bjork, Michelle Carrick, Carol (Paul) Deuman, Mike (Suzanne) Carrick and Scott (Melanie) Carrick. His grandchildren, Chris (Lauren) Bjork, Anthony Bjork (Mallorie), Summer Bjork (Devon), Jorja Carrick (Bubba and little Bean), John Lufkins, TJ, Crystal and Marcus Church, Elizabeth Carrick, Aaliyah and Paul Deuman, Spencer Carrick, and Daisy Carrick. Great grandchildren, Sunshine Teeple, Ella and Oliver Bjork, Tareva and Terencia LeBlanc.

Mike loved his nieces and nephews and was known as Uncle Mike and PaPa to a lot of people. Mike adored his special adopted grandkids Madison, Ella, Kindley, Chelsea and Richie Deuman.

Also surviving Mike are his siblings Gwen Deuman, Bill Carrick, Rebecca (Duane) Parish, Laurie (Reg) Robbins, Mary Kurtz, Eileen (Norm) Cameron, Chris (Carol) Carrick and Suzanne Carrick. His In-laws Marilyn Yon, James Lyons, Dawn Terrell, Anita Charles, Melanie Lyons, Walter Lyons and Michele LeBlanc.
Proceeding Mike in death are his parents, Ben and Vivian Carrick, his older brother Ben Carrick and sister-in-law Katie Carrick, younger brother David (Bing) Carrick, brothers-in-law Terry Deuman, Lawrence Lyons, and Larry Yon. His Father and Mother-in-law James and Audrey Lyons and his grandson Jesse Dakota Bjork.

Visitation will be held Tuesday May 24, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 6769 M-221 Brimley, MI 49715, from 12noon until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm with Father Dominic Yamoah officiating. Final resting place will be Mission Hill Cemetery. Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
