Gerald (Jerry) Sams passed away November 18, 2021 at home.
He was born November 5, 1934 In Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. He served in the Army from 1953-1956. After his service he was a partner at a Gulf Station in Cassopolis, Mi.. He was a school bus mechanic for Cassopolis School District. His childhood dream was to be a fireman & a policeman which he fulfilled in Cass County and also worked for Civil Service at Kincheloe AFB and also Selfridge ANG Base, Michigan. He worked his way up to be the Supervisor of Heavy Equipment. He retired from Civil Service in 1994 and moved to Brimley, Mi. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #3 and also the Historian of American Legion Riders. He loved going for rides on his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Janet (Keskey), son Ronald Sams, daughters Renee Sams-Cain (Rick), Becki Dunbar and Robin Sams, 20 grandchildren, 45 Great grandchildren, 10 Great great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Brother William Sams, sisters Pat McLean, SueEllen Bonn and Leslie (Darwin) Chrisman. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford & Lily Sams.
Jerry has been cremated. A Celebration of his life will be held July 23 at the American Legion Post #3 at Noon.
