Galen Hughes Harrison, age 83, of Pickford, Michigan, died at McLaren Northern Michigan
Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan, on August 4, 2022. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan,
on December 3, 1938, to Lewis and Marie (Hughes) Harrison.
Galen graduated from Pickford High School in 1956. He attended Michigan Tech University in
1957, and earned his Masters in Electrical Engineering in 1961. He went on to work for the U.S
Government for two years. In 1963, he started teaching at Lake Superior State University, in the
Department of Mathematics. He retired in 1999, after nearly 40 years.
Galen was a founding member of the Munoscong Golf Course and served on the board as
President for almost 50 years.
Galen had a passion for golf and took every chance he could to get out on the green. He could be found at the golf course every day during golf season, come rain or shine. He also enjoyed working on projects in his wood shop.
Galen is survived by his brother, Paul (Cheryl) Harrison of Pickford; sisters, Sharyll (Jack)
Stevenson of Pickford, and Justine Phillips of Charlotte, North Carolina; nieces and nephews,
Robin and Mike Hanes, Dawn and David Mastaw, Doug and Elaina Phillips, David and Mandi
Klamerus, John and Jennifer Harrison, and David Phillips along with many great nieces and nephews.
Galen is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Marie (Hughes) Harrison; and nephew Randy Stevenson.

Per his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
