Upcoming Events in September at Bayliss Public Library

SAULT STE MARIE, MI – Adults will have another chance at winning prizes this season! The autumn adult reading program will run from September 1st through November 30th. Those 18 and over can participate. The sheet can be picked up at the library circulation desk.

Preschool storytime is returning this school year. This is a great interactive and entertaining way to meet fellow children and connect with the library. If you are interested in signing up, please call the library.

There will be an adult coloring program on September 7th at 10AM. Registration is not required; refreshments will be provided.

Movie matinees are returning in September, but they will be held at different times. The first showing will take place on September 8th at 6PM. Subsequent showings will be on September 13th at 6PM and September 24th at 1PM. Due to licensing restrictions, the library cannot publish the film titles in print; please call the library for details regarding the movie selections.

The Building Club is returning to the library. Youth of any age may participate in free building or taking part in the building competitions. Building bricks will be provided; registration is not required. The dates scheduled for next month are September 10th and September 24th. Children and their guardians can drop in anytime between 10AM and 3PM.

The Sault Area Arts Council is hosting its final segment in a series of informative art programs at Bayliss. This month’s feature will be an introductory watercolors class. Attendees will learn about the medium and will have the opportunity to create their own painting. Supplies will be provided. This program will take place at 1:30PM on September 10th. This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. Please call the Sault Area Arts Council or Bayliss Public Library to sign up.

Bayliss is hosting Holocaust survivor Irene Miller at the Lake Superior State University Arts Center on September 12th at 7PM. She will be speaking to the public. Registration is not required, but space is limited. This event is being sponsored by several community agencies.

Bayliss is showing several of the Soo Film Fest’s entries. The public is welcome on September 14th and 15th, both at 6:30PM. At the end of the program, attendees will be asked to vote on their favorite films.

A tentative adult autumn craft is scheduled for September 17th at 2PM. Please call or visit the library on or after September 7th to see if the program will be available and/or to register.

Russell Magnaghi will be visiting the library on September 27th at 7PM. Magnaghi in an Upper Peninsula historian, specifically focusing on the region’s food and beverages. He will be discussing his latest book as well as sharing his stories and findings.
