Harry John Wentworth

Harry John Wentworth Jr., age 64, of DeTour Village, Michigan, died at his home on September 18, 2022. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on July 6, 1958, to Harry John Sr and Nina Regina (Rolland) Wentworth.

Harry grew up in Troy, Michigan, and moved to Caseville, Michigan, where he attended Elkton Pigeon Bay Port High School. After school he earned his CDL and started working as an over the road trucker, as well as a farm hand for local farmers. He met the love of his life, Monica in 1980 and they married on July 7, 1984, in Bad Axe, Michigan. In 1994 Harry and Monica had moved to Goetzville, Michigan. They later began their family at a home off Pine River in Mackinaw County, then returned to Goetzville and moved across various places in the area. Harry during this time had begun working for Bay Mills Head Start as a bus driver for several years. In 2010, Harry and Monica made Detour Village their home.

Harry was a barterer who would usually trade guns, cars, motorbikes, and boats. He loved to hunt, build model cars. He had a passion for racing, especially on an oval track at Owendale’s Racetrack. He also loved dirt bike racing, especially ice racing. Harry had a love for music and had met with Ted Nugent to whom he looked up to as a hunting man and musician.

Harry is survived by his wife, Monica Lee Wentworth of DeTour Village; his son, John Wentworth of DeTour Village; brother, Denny (Margie Garavagila) Wentworth of Detroit, Michigan; sister, Michelle Wentworth of Detroit; brothers-in-law, Gary (Charlotte) Mills of Ishpeming, Michigan, and Roaul (Linda) Roahdes of Bad Axe, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Darlene Gusa of Harbor Beach, Michigan.

Harry is preceded in death by his father, Harry Wentworth Sr, his sister, Charlotte (Gary) Mills; infant brother, Timmy Wentworth; and sister-in-law, Lorna Deal.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on September 30, 2022, beginning at 12:00 Noon at Wilderness Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God, 777 N. Caribou Lake Rd., DeTour Village, MI 49725.
