Leslie Edman Mitchell, age 74, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
Les was born on April 26, 1948, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late Leland and Arbutus (VanLuven) Mitchell. He was a graduate of Marquette High School with the class of 1966. Les’ first love was truck driving. He also loved being on his tractor. Later in life, he enjoyed boating and spending time with his grandchildren.
Les is survived by his wife of 25 years: Sharolyn (Pope) Mitchell; his children: Brenda Lee (Bardo) Neeson of Manistique, Jeremy (Amber) McLean and Justin (Karley) McLean both of Dafter, and Ashley (Ken) VanLuven of Pickford; many grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived a sister: Donna (Arlene) Bennett; and two brothers: Charles (Betty) Mitchell and Anson (Kathy) Mitchell.
Les was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Jerry Mitchell.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Cash officiating. Friends may gather that day from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the Chippewa County Animal Shelter.
