BRIMLEY, Mich. – Beginning Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be performing maintenance work on the M-221/6 Mile Road bridge over the Waiska River in Brimley, Chippewa County, which will require a posted detour.
Starting Monday, Sept. 19, eastbound 6 Mile Road traffic will be detoured on M-221 to M-28 to Piche Road and back to 6 Mile Road. The detour will be reversed for westbound 6 Mile Road traffic. The detour is expected to be lifted Friday, Sept. 23.
The bridge work includes deck patching and sealing to extend the lifespan of the bridge and increase safety for motorists.
