Mark Steven Bergsma, of Sault Ste. Marie, passed away at his home on September 25th.
He was born September 6, 1955, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduated from high school in Sault Ste. Marie, earned his BA at Lake Superior State College and his Masters at the University of Michigan in Public Health. He volunteered with the Peace Corps in Upper Volta and Zaire.
Mark was a great storyteller who enjoyed nature, hunting, writing poetry, creating woodburnings, and gatherings of his friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Gendzwill, and sister, Rachel Smart. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Bright, daughter, Camomilia (Michael) BrightVokits, father Harold (Lily) Bergsma, brothers Daniel (Robin) Bergsma and Harley Bergsma, stepsister Phyllis Bowman, siblings in-law, Douglas S. Smart, Ben Bright, and Bonnie (Mike) Kaunisto, nieces and nephews, Chaun Bergsma, Benjamin (NeTausha) Bergsma, Joshua Smart, Ruthanne (Brent) Stark, Raymond (Rochelle) Kaunisto, Stuart (Anna) Bergsma, Kory (Karolina) Kaunisto, Kellie (Joe) Greener, and Katie Chipman Bergsma.
Burial of the ashes will be held at Mission Hill at Noon on Saturday, October 8 th, where he will join his mother and sister.
A celebration of life will be held at 8651 S Nicolet at 4 PM on October 8th
