Robert Alan Roos, age 55, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at My Michigan Health Center – Sault Long Term Care.
Rob was born on January 6, 1967 in Escanaba, Michigan to the late Robert and June (Gardner) Roos. He graduated with the Escanaba High School Class of 1985. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree. On July 23, 1994, he married Jennifer Sturgeon in Marquette, MI.
Rob was a sports writer for the Sault News for 25 years. He also wrote for the Escanaba Daily Press, and was a news reporter for the Menominee Herald. He was a member of the U.S. Chess Federation, and a former Organizer and Head of the Soo Tennis League. Rob enjoyed cross-country skiing, chess, tennis, basketball, and gardening. His specialty was growing and harvesting berries.
Rob is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jennifer Roos; and his children: Josephine Anne (Christopher Forrest) Roos, Duncan Robert Roos, and Aelinor June Roos all of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He is also survived by his brother: Blaine (Evelyn) Smith of Alabama. Rob was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Johnston officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to either My Michigan Medical Center Sault Long Term Care or American Cancer Society.
