Donald Wayne McLeod

Donald Wayne McLeod, age 63, of St. Ignace, Michigan, died at home on October 3, 2022. He was born in St. Ignace on January 6, 1959, to Cecil and Doris (Hewer) McLeod.

Don grew up in St. Ignace and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1977. He met Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Walker, and they had their first date was on Don’s birthday. They married on October 8, 1983, at the United Methodist Church in St. Ignace, and started their family. He worked for more than thirty years for the City of St. Ignace Water Department until he retired in 2014.

Don enjoyed being in the outdoors: hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, and spending time with his beagles. He loved going rabbit hunting with his dogs and his favorite day of the year was opening day of deer season. He loved his family and being a grandpa to four grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his wife, Kathy Ann Walker; daughter, Shelly Lyn Eifler of Litchfield Park, Arizona; son, Donald Ray McLeod of Rapid River, Michigan; grandchildren, Leah Eifler, Maximus Eifler, Xander Eifler, and Donald Nash McLeod; sisters, Kaye, Judy, and Linda; and brothers, Roy, and Jimmy McLeod.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Doris McLeod; and brother, Gene McLeod.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 18, 2022, at Johnnies on 2 from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the St. Ignace Community Foundation or McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation / Cheboygan Hospice Fund.

Final resting place will be at Lakeside Cemetery in St. Ignace, Michigan.
