SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Junior thrower Jenna Fleming (Hilton Beach, Ont.) came away with a tenth place finish at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet on Saturday to earn her second consecutive USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors in the women’s javelin event.
Fleming would initially throw her way into 11th place after her first throw traveled a distance of 42.59 meters, but she would ultimately sit in 13th after the first round of her flight. She then held onto 13th after her second throw, despite it not being as well as her first. However, on her third throw of the day, Fleming was able to clear a distance of 44.35 meters to climb up to tenth place in the standings, narrowly missing out on the finals by 0.25 meters but still improving on her 12th place finish at the championship meet from one year ago.
