SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State University junior thrower Jenna Fleming (Hilton Beach, Ont.) has qualified for the 2023 DII NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the women’s javelin event for the second-consecutive year, as announced by the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee on Tuesday. The championship meet will take place in Pueblo, Colo. on May 25-27.
Fleming’s best throw of the season came at the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell, in which she was able to throw for a distance of 45.95 meters to place her in a tie for the seventh best mark, nationally. She will be looking to improve upon her 12th place finish from last season after a throw of 42.41 meters earned her Second Team All-American honors.
Fleming is coming off of an impressive performance at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships in which she won her third-consecutive GLIAC title in dominant fashion with not only the top mark of the day, but the top four throws out of everyone in the field.
The women’s javelin event is scheduled for 1:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, May 27 at the Colorado State University Pueblo (CSUP) Thunderbowl in Pueblo, Colo., and heat sheets will be available by Monday, May 22.
