The Sault High Varsity Blue Devils Cross Country teams competed in the 55th Annual Holly/Duane Raffin Festival of Races on Friday. The boys team placed fourth overall in a field of 14 teams. Sophomores Gabe Litzner (16:04.80) finished third and Shea Armstrong (17:27.80) also made the platform with a 13th place finish. There were 102 runners in this D3 competition. Juniors Evan Huyck (19:19.40), Eli Hills (19:27.60), and McKal Berry (20:49.70); sophomore Ryan O’Connor (19:46.80) and freshman Chase Aldridge (20:16.50) also contributed to the team’s success.
The Lady Blue Devils were led by seniors Abby Walther (22:59.90), Calla Armstrong (23:38.50), and Dayna Szabo (23:56.30); sophomore Elise Proulx (23:19.00), and freshmen Leighton Nyboer (24:13.00) and Regan Sporte (25:43.20). The girls team placed tenth overall out of 15 teams. There were 104 runners in the girls D3 field.
The Blue Devils cross country teams will head back downstate next week to compete in the Jackson Invitational. The JV and middle school teams will compete on Friday, and the varsity competes on Saturday.
